Nomi Network - The Story

Nomi Network will primarily focus on sex trafficking as it seeks to increase the financial independence of women who are vulnerable to sex trafficking. Nomi uses a three-fold strategy that consists of developing talent and high-quality, profitable products, increasing capacity of employers to provide living wages and partnering with retailers and consumers to increase demand for their products.

Develop Products and Talent

Understand market trends to create high-quality products with significant value add.
Connect at-risk women to western design talent and marketing insight to create culturally-situated products relevant to a global audience.
Invest product profits in education for at-risk women to provide them with marketable skills and propagates Nomi's efforts as the women become leaders, sharing their skills with their communities.

Increase Capacity

Secure employment with fair working conditions and wages.
Assist social enterprise employers in increasing their capacity.

Raise Awareness, Increase Demand

Establish partnerships with well-recognized retailers and designers to distribute the products.
Raise awareness of sex trafficking among consumers to create demand for the products.

PROGRAMS

Nomi Network provides hands-on training through a one-on-one mentorship program with experienced product developers in the fashion industry. Training sessions expose the women to new product development and design techniques and offer the women an opportunity to implement those techniques by creating products that are sold in the global marketplace. In addition, Nomi Network's programs actively engage the women in problem solving and exploring new color combinations and material combinations in developing products. The women are also trained in conducting quality-control and are educated in the material-sourcing process by shadowing the mentor. Nomi Network also offers the women various opportunities to explore other careers by connecting the women to different organizations in their local community. One-hundred percent of Nomi Network profits are reinvested back either into training programs or educational scholarships.

Nomi Network's programs not only cater to the individual needs and skill-sets of each woman, but also focus on mentally and emotionally empowering the women, many of whom are scarred from traumas of being sex-trafficked. Nomi Network recently implemented Project Beauty, a self-esteem building initiative that restores identity, self-image and confidence through photography. Nomi Network pampers the women with a make-over and a new wardrobe for the day, and sets up a photo-shoot where they are captured as beautiful, dignified human beings, rather than objects. By providing a holistic approach to human trafficking crisis, Nomi Network impacts lasting, sustainable change in the lives of the women.
